What you need to prepare before
working in Japan
Japanese Language Certificate
A Japanese language proficiency certificate is required to obtain a work visa for Japan. The accepted certifications include the JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) at Level N4 or the JFT-Basic (Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese) at Level A2 or JLCT (Japanese Language Capability Test) at Level 4.
Special Skill Certificate
To work in Japan as a Specified Skilled Worker, you must obtain a job-specific certification relevant to your chosen field.
For more detailed information about the required Special Skill Certificate, please feel free to contact us.
Valid Passport
Anyone who wishes to travel overseas is required to have a passport that is still valid, as expired passports are not accepted by immigration authorities in either the departure or destination country.
Identity Card
KTP (Kartu Tanda Penduduk)
For official record-keeping and verification purposes, the Indonesian government mandates that the resident identity card be uploaded into SISKOP2MI, a digital system designed to streamline administrative procedures and ensure accurate personal data management.
Family Card
KK (Kartu Keluarga)
For verification and administrative purposes, the Indonesian government requires that the most recent Family Card be uploaded into SISKOP2MI, a digital system designed to store and manage official family data efficiently.
Last Education Certificate
A certificate from the last completed educational institution is necessary to confirm an individual’s academic background and ensure accurate documentation of their education history. Specifically, for those applying for an SSW Visa, the minimum education level required is at least a Senior High School (SMA) diploma, as per the established eligibility criteria.
Medical Checkup (FULL BODY)
A thorough medical examination is also required to evaluate the overall health and physical condition of the worker, ensuring they meet the necessary health standards before departing for Japan.
SKCK
(for INDONESIAN)
For Indonesian, SKCK (Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian) or Police Record Certificate is also required as part of the visa application process for those seeking to work in Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker program.
Pass Photo
For administrative and verification purposes within the SISKOP2MI application, all prospective workers are required to upload a recent 3×4 cm passport photo taken against a plain white background. This photograph will be used for official records and must follow the specified guidelines to ensure successful registration.
Letter of permission from
Parents/Husband/Wife
(not mandatory)
For individuals who have received a written letter of consent from their parents, spouse, or legal guardian allowing them to work in Japan, this letter can be uploaded to the SISKOP2MI system as part of the required documentation. This step helps verify family consent and ensures compliance with administrative regulations.
CoE
Certificate of Eligibility
The Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) is an official document that will be issued by a Japanese company as confirmation that you have successfully passed the interview and have been selected for employment. Once issued, this CoE will then be submitted for approval to the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo (KBRI Tokyo). The embassy’s approval serves as an official endorsement, indicating that your departure to work in Japan has been authorized by the Indonesian government, ensuring that all necessary requirements have been met before you begin your employment abroad.
Work Agreement
The work agreement will be presented to you for review before any further steps are taken. You will have the opportunity to carefully read and understand its terms and conditions. If you agree to the terms outlined in the contract, it will then be forwarded to the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo (KBRI Tokyo) for official approval. Once the embassy grants its authorization, the finalized agreement will be sent back to you as confirmation that all necessary procedures have been completed in accordance with the required regulations.
